History at Gorsemoor is enthusiastically taught throughout the school; it is even taught in Nursery and the Foundation stage where it forms part of the knowledge and understanding of the world area of their curriculum.

In Key Stage One, it is taught enthusiastically using ICT, a hands on approach, DVDs, books, visits to help the children get a good understanding of what the past and people who lived in the past were like .The pupils are able to go out and visit the local area and compare different types of houses, go to local museums to find out and handle old fashioned toys and experience what shops were like in the past. As well as this, the children find out about famous characters from the past such as Florence Nightingale and Samuel Pepys.

In Key Stage Two, History is taught through study units where the children use a multimedia approach to study the units. They also have the opportunity to take part in themed days, visit places of interest related to their particular study unit as well as having visitors into school who bring some of the History Study units alive.
