Our Reception classes are part of the Early Years Foundation Stage which is led by Mrs Horn. This year our Reception unit will be organised into three classes taught by Mrs Rowland/ Miss Marklove, Mrs Palmer and Miss Elwell.
The Reception class teacher acts a ‘Key Person’ to all of the children in their class. The role of the key person initially is to help your child to settle into their new setting. They are also the main point of contact with you, the parents so that together we can support your child’s learning and development through their first year at school. They may also help families engage with more specialist support if it is appropriate.
The Reception classes are also supported by our teaching assistants: Mrs Smith and Mrs Williams. They work closely together with your child’s class teacher to support your child and are your child’s second ‘key person’. It is very much a team effort.
