Pupils at Gorsemoor Primary School are provided with many further opportunities to develop their skills as well as experience new sports through our programme of extra-curricular activities. Clubs are offered by teaching and support staff in netball, football, cricket, dance and rounders throughout the academic year. We also have external agencies that provide after school clubs in gymnastics and archery at school.

We are continually working to develop links with the local community and work closely with local sporting clubs such as Cannock and Rugeley Cricket Club and Hednesford Town Football club. In doing this we are frequently able to offer activities such as additional coaching and one off taster sessions to the pupils.

We develop close links with the surrounding High Schools to help us broaden the activities that are available to pupils. As part of the Norton Canes Cluster, we work particularly closely with Norton Canes High School to provide additional activities for the pupils. Sport Leaders from Year 11 provide a multi-skills session for our Year 1 pupils in the Autumn term and we regularly take pupils from Key Stage 2 to the High School to attend cross-country, football and athletic activities. We also receive ‘Fit and Fun’ sessions for our Year 5 pupils which are led by a member of staff from the high school. We are lucky to have a member of staff from another local High School, The Erasmus Darwin Academy, who works with our Year 3 pupils to provide a 6 week sport specific course. In addition, our main feeder school, Kingsmead Technology School, provides many sport opportunities across both Key Stages including athletics, multi-skills and netball tournaments.
